“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.”

I know this is odd, but when she lectures, it feels like she’s holding my brain almost like shes massaging my mind & shifting it. This is a thought I have after every lecture with Dr Annete Seegers who is the Head of the Politics Dep. at the University of Cape Town.
I am starting to think that education that does not kindle this fire, may just be an injustice to learning .“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.”

I had such a unique moment today, speaking to my lecturer Zwelethu Jolobe. The awakening of the mind is a phenomenal thing. This picture fails to encapsulate how refreshing learning is (at least the full extent of learning). That moment when your brain literally feels. It’s a wonder that awakens curiosity. In my world, this moment is conveyed by endless screeching from the joy of learning.
